Kids tell it like it is!
Perspectives from a group of young people are set to illuminate the stage in The Quadrangle as part of the State Theatre Centre of WA's STATE OF PLAY 2025 FRINGE WORLD program. The production marks an exciting co-production between Whiskey & Boots and Barking Gecko Arts. It builds on the established relationship Whiskey & Boots' Mark Storen and Georgia King have with Barking Gecko through their roles as teaching artists in the organisation's Creative Learning programs.
The Quadrangle is a unique Headphone Verbatim Performance that promises to be a transformative experience, seamlessly blending live music with the unfiltered voices of young people. During the show, Mark and Georgia wear headphones, listening to the recorded interviews with the young participants. They articulate the words exactly as they hear them, allowing the audience to hear the genuine life experiences of the participants. The performance explores themes of growing up and human emotions, blending humour, irony, and bittersweet moments to create an experience that resonates with audiences of all ages.
Following successful seasons at the Midland Junction Arts Centre in 2022 and Hamilton Hill Memorial Hall in early 2024, audiences have praised the production's ability to both move and delight:
"…The artists created such a professional, funny, moving and thought-provoking experience. Whiskey & Boots demonstrate how much they care by considering every detail, bringing the audience along for a journey back to their childhood."
"Equally heartwarming, profound, and funny!"
