We're thrilled to announce that we have some amazing new additions to our Board! Join us in welcoming Dane O'Callaghan and Dr Emma Jayakumar to the team. With their wealth of experience, they will positively impact Barking Gecko Arts! Let's give them a warm welcome.
Dane O'Callaghan
Dane is an executive leader with a 30-year career in property and corporate Australia, currently responsible for BHP's corporate real estate portfolio across Australia & Europe. Starting out as an architect, he has a strong affiliation with design and the arts. With executive roles encompassing property development, asset management, and corporate real estate, Dane brings a wealth of expertise to Barking Gecko Arts, spanning strategy development, risk management, financial management, and day-to-day operations. Having served on numerous committees and boards, he is the current Chair of Alchera Living and a board member of the AWESOME International Arts Festival for Bright Young Things. He holds Masters qualifications in applied finance and business, is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors course, and is recognised as a Fellow at the Australian Institute of Management.
Dr Emma Jayakumar
Dr Emma Jayakumar is an award-winning Australian composer and academic. An alumna of WAAPA, the Sydney Conservatorium and the Royal Academy of Music, she completed a research medal-winning PhD on specialised approaches to young audiences of opera in 2018 and is a fierce advocate of engaging and accessible works for children and new music celebrating diverse Australian voices.
