The Senior Gecko Ensemble is all about building drama skills and professional practice in an environment of imagination and possibility. Over the year this ensemble will explore acting fundamentals and a range of theatre devising techniques, in a playful, supportive and professional environment.
Term 3: If We Ran The World
In a world at crisis point what is the role of the artist? This term we’re asking the Gecko Ensembles what they would do if they ran the world. What would you change? How would you make things better? How would you take responsibility for the problems in the world? And how can theatre and art make a difference?
Over a period of nine sessions, young people in Gecko Ensembles will explore the theme of If We Ran The World, in a fun environment where their ideas are valued and explored. This will culminate in a short showing of work in process (not a fully rehearsed performance) to share what they have been working on.
Term 3’s topic is part of Barking Gecko’s examination of power in our high school seminar Macbeth Living Lecture, on tour through July.
Term 3 is a PROCESS term: This means we are focussed on introducing young people to the fundamental elements of acting through a powerful and relevant theme, and not on rehearsing for a performance outcome.
